First of all, a massive thanks to everyone who took part and supported during the Minutes applause for Jacob, we all have been overwhelmed by the amount of support and love from the rugby community local as well as far and wide.

Saturday

Pirates and Sponsors Lunch

I have never seen the clubhouse so busy and what great atmosphere throughout the entire day. As super Massive thanks to Vicky and her team for pulling off one of the best lunches I have attended, under a very tight time constraint and what most don’t know is that her team also had to cater for 12 different teams on Saturday as well as a 3 course sit down lunch for 82 guests! What a first day for Vicky and her team, so well done all in the kitchen and bar for making this happen. Then they had to cater for our Mini’s festival on Sunday also with over 1000 people on site!

Men’s 1st XV

Well as most of us saw the men really dug deep to get a bonus point win 27-26 as a tough and much larger Sandown side. Some great running rugby with 17 out of the 18 players coming through our youth section (the other one is a youth coach so we will let Windy off!)

Women’s 1st XV

The Women’s 1st XV had a very tough encounter with Ivybridge, we were on level par with them for a good chunk of the 1st half but Ivybridge were too strong and came out winners 12-48 – its always going to be tough in this league but a spirited performance from the Women T’s. 5 players in the 1st team squad have come through the junior

Men’s 2nd XV

Our men’s 2nd team took the booze ferry over to the IoW and played the other team over there Ventnor but were overpowered by a strong team and came back 2nd best 55-19

Sunday

Women’s 2nd XV

Our Women 2’s Played a travelling Yeovil team who came with a strong established team and even though the score does not reflect this, but our 2’s worked well under constant pressure and were able to bring in some good moves. The final score was 12-41. Note this is the 2nd teams, second promotion in only 2 years. So a tough time but some good rugby coming out from all on Sunday

Also on Sunday we had our Mini festival with over 1000 people attending the Trojans site from all over Hampshire and beyond. A big thanks to all those volunteers for helping to make this very large event happen.

Clubhouse

For those who attending the lunch on Saturday so some designs on the walls on how the new clubhouse is going to look and I will try and get these into a digital format and send on to everyone. The new changing rooms look awesome and were used for the first this time weekend with showers in each changing rooms and locks on each door to prevent any unwanted people entering while we are out playing our sports. Also dedicated Officials changing rooms and a room for our physios also to work their magic.

As I mentioned on Saturday the floor in the function room and that bar is being ripped up today to get up and aligned with the rest of the renovation in the clubhouse and here is a photo for you all. This has nothing to do with the amount of booze sold at the lunch!!!!!!

Well that’s it for me and thanks again to everyone who attending the club on Saturday and for everyone making this weekend and all the weekends happen

Regards and thanks

Mike
