A buzz is building around the club as the winter season draws to a close.

There has been notable sporting success. We have built on our National League representation, won leagues, and reached the business end of cup competitions across all our sections (see below for details).

We also have a new outlook from our social space. This has received many favourable comments and is only the start of the improvements planned. Once the terraces, fixtures & fittings, lighting, etc., are in place, we will have a facility to take pride in and to cherish.

Cash flow management is now of paramount importance. We and our appointed solicitors are progressing the due diligence process for our loan with Charity Bank as quickly as we can. We have also submitted sizeable VAT overpayment claims.

The fundraising response has been fantastic - members have raised almost £165,000 from one-off donations, Buy a Brick, regular donations and over £7K from fundraising events - yet (there is always a but) we still have a gap in funding to find; which in my opinion is a bridgeable one.

While we have raised a stunning sum in donations already, if we can markedly widen member commitment to the club’s future, that could make all the difference. One brick in our legacy wall, for instance, from even 30% of our membership and their contacts would improve both the speed and finish of what we can build. It also broadens our felt ownership of the project, a legacy moment that builds a thriving future for and a deeper sense of belonging to our magnificent club.

There may also be people who would like to make specific donations towards certain requirements: the lighting, the furniture, or something else that you think will really bring the place to life. If so, please reach out.

Thank you for all that you have already given; it has truly helped those driving the development on your behalf dedicate so much time to the cause.

An eye to the future

Our club is driven by volunteers. At the board level, we are considering the best organisation to take us forward and optimise the facilities we are putting in place.

Financial Director

Business Plan development and delivery, Financial Governance

Key responsibilities:

Work with the bookkeeper to maintain financial data
Prepare budgets and financial plans
Monitor income, expenditure, and financial controls
Liaise with Club Sections to ensure consistency across the accounts
Provide financial reporting to the board, identifying issues to be addressed
Ensure potential cost savings are identified and managed
Ensure compliance with financial regulations
Manage the bookkeeping and accountancy provision
Manage the signatories for the various bank accounts
Work with accountants to review and finalise statutory accounts
Prepare reporting information for lending banks and manage that relationship

Hospitality Director

Cohesion of offers, Business development

Key responsibilities:

Manage the Bar & Catering activity and team
Promote and ensure the coherent organisation of club events and social activities
Ensure all onsite bar and catering activity is complimentary and optimal
Ensure the identification and marketing of core propositions for different types of member use and external target markets

Social Events

Our recent events have been hugely successful, with brilliant attendance across the club. We are busy planning our next round of social activities, which will be announced shortly.

2025/26 Season Summary

Youth and Mini Rugby

The youth section continues to thrive as the third-largest in Hampshire, averaging 32.5 players per age group among 520 registered members.

Trojans is proudly bucking county trends by retaining players during traditionally difficult transition ages, and the club boasts the largest girls' section in Hampshire with 142 players. On the pitch, teams from U12 up represented the club exceptionally well, highlighted by the U16 Girls winning the regional National Cup and Saffi Smaili earning an England U18 cap.

Off the pitch, Dan Power is stepping down as Youth Chair after three successful years, with Minis Chair "Pumba" volunteering to take the reins.

Senior Section Successes

It was a landmark season for both the Men’s and Women’s senior sections, driven heavily by thriving youth academy pathways.

The Men’s 1st team secured promotion back to Counties 1 and reached the National Cup semi-finals, seamlessly integrating 17 recent U18 players into senior rugby. The Women’s 1st XV successfully retained their place in Championship 1 South, while the Women’s 2nd XV secured their second consecutive promotion to move into NC1 next season. The bridge between sections is stronger than ever, with 14 pathway players now in the regular women's squads and 16 players earning Hampshire Senior Women's selections.

Women's & Girls Summer Touch Rugby - Wednesdays 18:30 - 20:30 - Starting 20th May 2026 - 17th June 2026.

Men's Summer Pathway Touch Rugby - Thursdays 19:00 - 20:30 - Starting 16th June 2026 - 16th July 2026.
